Dining by Design

Rarely having the opportunity to work without parameters, Cannon Frank decided to create a unique space for Elle Décor's Dining by Design fundraiser (benefiting DIFFA — Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS) with original pieces and high quality reproductions. The requirements for the event are that each designer must work in an 11' x 11' space, be able to accommodate a group for dinner, and have a vessel for champagne. According to David Sheppard, DIFFA's Executive Director, the only similarity is that "each table engages and challenges the viewer, allowing them to glimpse the intimate, unexpected or unknown genius of its creator."

After the arrival of the incredible dining table and chairs (from the Lucien Rollin Collection from William Switzer), the rest of the project fell into place quite effortlessly. The chandelier is from John Cannon and Cary Frank's private collection, and one of Cannon Frank's most prolific collector clients loaned the antique torcheries and Lalique vase. The incredible Lalique table settings, red coral by Pagoda Red, area rug by Odegard, banquette sofa and silk covered folding screen from Holly Hunt, and flowers by RJ Design finalized the look and gave the entire setting the polish it needed to bring the room to life. With a touch of eclectic elegance, Cannon Frank brought back a small bit of history and the "high-life" of a bygone era.
