Merchandise Mart Dream Home

When the Merchandise Mart asked Cannon Frank to participate in their first annual Dream Home, the answer was an enthusiastic (and honored!) yes. Nine of Chicagoland's finest interior designers conceptualized and designed a room, using the resources and products within the building, creating a showcase house located in the lobby of the Merchandise Mart.

Cannon Frank designed the foyer, which appears to be just the appetizer for a sophisticated home filled with art and furnishings. A lifestyle, anchored by a collection of Art Deco furniture and antiques and punctuated by contemporary art and a fearless eye for color, could be just around the corner.

Everything in the room, from the upholstered walls with sumptuous marigold silk to the original alabaster and bronze torchieres to the St. Germaine limestone flooring, speaks of luxury.

A hand-carved, three-dimensional red coral lacquered mirror beautifully reflects two one-of-a-kind paintings in layers of riotous color. The macassar ebony secretaire, Louis XVI Colonna desk chair and onyx Anais sconces provide a quiet sanctuary for letter writing. Overhead, an incredible beaded basket chandelier completes the room with soft and soothing lighting.
