Cannon Frank: A Design Corporation PC
Luxury Eclectic Duplex
Cannon Frank's challenge with this project was to create an exquisite yet livable background for the clients' extensive Art Deco and contemporary art collection.
Located in the heart of Chicago's Magnificent Mile, this duplex apartment combines public living spaces on the main floor with the master suite privately situated on a separate floor. A symphony of ivory silk on the walls, bed and furnishings (most of which are antique Ruhlmann) help create a sumptuous night of slumber — as do the morning kitchen and separate entrance. Art Deco influence is visible throughout the home in the plaster ornamental detailing, millwork, ironwork, architecture, and artifacts. The lutron graphic eye lighting system allows for the creation of many lighting scenes and provides convenience in zoning controls throughout the apartment. The kitchen dining area with sycamore paneling, vintage table chandelier and Georg Jensen tureen is inviting even without a gourmet meal!
This apartment is one of four homes in which the clients reside, and Cannon Frank, along with architect Marvin Herman, was instructed to make this residence the "jewel in their crown of properties."
